3.6 chain folly?

I do headgaskets on Chevy 3.4 suvs. Done 8 so far. I see many equinoxes with bad 3.6 motors. I have not done one of those. I’m pretty talented. Is a 3.6 sts chain job a waste of time? I assume access is much better as motor is not sideways. Will new chains fix the timing chain issue and result in a running car? I found a nice 06 sts w/130k miles and it needs chains. It is still running. seller wants $1200
